My dog George loves his treats. What dog doesn't ? There are so many lovely treats on the market but I like to make these natural treats for George, as they are packed with goodness but with no additives.
I decided to start making him my own homemade version of his favourite goodies. The result was Peanut Butter Cookies and I have to report that he absolutely LOVES them. So here is my easy, quick recipe for you to try. I know your dog will really appreciate it too ! George certainly does ! He's my little cookie monster !
I have inserted photos here but please scroll further down for the full details of this fabulous, easy recipe.
2 cups of plain flour
Half a cup of peanut butter.
Quarter cup of water.
Preheat the oven to 350F / 180C Gas Mark 2
Get a baking tray and cover with greaseproof / baking paper.
Mix the flour, peanut butter and eggs in a large bowl until combined.
Add small amounts of the water until the mixture resembles a dough that can be rolled out easily.
Roll out the dough between 5mm-10mm thickness depending whether you want a thin or chunky cookie.
Cut out into shapes using a cookie cutter. I use a bone shaped one !
Place the cookies onto the baking tray and cook in the oven for about 15-20 mins depending on the thickness of the cookie. They should be firm but light golden brown in colour.
Allow to cool.
Finally, when cool, give one to your furry friend who will no doubt be begging you for just one more, like my George always does !
I usually make different sizes so I can put some of the smaller ones in my bag when we go out walking. They are also great to make for presents for Christmas or for other dogs that you may know. Simply pop some in a jar or in a cellophane bag and tie with ribbon.
So there we are ! My cheap, easy to make peanut butter cookies !
Please let me know if you make these and what you think. And I would love to hear if you have any other natural dog treat recipes I can try.
Until next time dear friends
Susanna & George xx
